John 18

Jesus is arrested and put under question. There is a sense of confusion about what to do with Jesus—Annas, Caiaphas, Pilate each ask their questions. Charges are made, but nothing sticks, other than the desire to have Jesus executed. Jesus doesn’t fit anyone’s expectations of what it means to be a king or a messiah or a sent one from God. What tone of voice do you hear Pilate saying “What is truth?” How do differences in tone change how you might interpret what is happening or how Pilate might understand who Jesus is. Meanwhile, Peter is also put under question—Who is Jesus for you, Peter? He says Jesus means nothing. Ouch. What would you say if someone asked you—Who is Jesus for you?
